Rich Ryan
deputy project manager for resources

Rich Ryan has 20+ years of experience in the aerospace industry. He has worked in both private industry and for NASA and is currently the Deputy Project Manager for Resources (DPM/R) for the James Webb Space Telescope. Rich joined the Webb project in November 2010. In this capacity, Rich has overall responsibility for the resources management activities including financial and performance measurement, budgeting, project control/support, configuration management, scheduling, etc.

Ryan has a BS in Aviation Management from the Florida Institute of Technology, and a Masters of Public Administration from Rutgers University. Prior to joining the NASA team, Mr. Ryan worked as computer training consultant (self employed), and as an aviation planner for a large aviation consulting firm.

Ryan began his career with NASA in 1992 as a Presidential Management Intern (PMI), and has supported the following NASA Flight Projects over the past years in a business/project control capacity: TRACE & WIRE Projects (Business Mgt), Hubble Space Telescope Project (Financial Mgr. and Project Support Mgr.), Solar Terrestrial Probes Program (Program Business Manager), STEREO Project (DPM/R), Magnetospheric MultiScale (MMS) Project (DPM/R), and the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS K & L) Project.

Ryan has been the recipient of the NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal, the NASA Honor Award for Outstanding Leadership Medal, and various NASA Group Awards.

Ryan enjoys working with an exceptional team on Webb, traveling to different areas of the country, spending time with family, watching youth football and lacrosse games, fishing, surfing, outdoor activities, and a good game of chess.
